  • Galvanic isolation between Ex hazardous zone and safe cabinet, eliminates ground loop temperature measurement error
  • Hot-pluggable design for maintenance without system shutdown
  • Low thermal drift, long-term measurement stability for continuous thermal process monitoring

Working Principle

Field temperature sensor analog signal enters the Ex-isolated input circuit; internal high-resolution ADC converts raw temperature signal to digital value. MCU executes sensor linearization calculation and cold junction compensation algorithm. Processed digital temperature data is isolated via transformer isolation channel then converted back to standard 4–20mA/1–5V analog output for DCS/PLC. Constant impedance monitoring circuit detects open/short sensor wiring and activates fault contact output when abnormal impedance occurs. Intrinsic safety limiting circuits restrict maximum voltage/current transmitted to hazardous area to prevent ignition risk.

Material & Structural Characteristics

  • Housing: UL94-V0 flame retardant black engineering plastic, chemical corrosion resistant
  • Internal Circuit: High-isolation multi-layer PCB with reinforced insulation barrier, conformal coating for moisture resistance
  • Terminals: Spring push-in tool-free wiring terminals, tin-nickel alloy conductive contacts anti-oxidation
  • Modular DIN rail snap-fit structure, interlocking side latches for dense termination board installation
  • Passive natural cooling, no fan components

Installation Requirements

  1. Install on standard 35mm DIN rail inside non-explosion control cabinet
  2. Compatible with Pepperl+Fuchs 16-position H-System termination base plate, pre-assembled system cables simplify wiring
  3. Separate Ex field sensor wiring and control-side signal wiring cable trays with minimum 5cm separation distance
  4. Cold junction compensation accuracy requires field terminals temperature consistent with ambient cabinet temperature; avoid direct air duct blowing on module terminals
  5. Protective earth connection to termination board ground terminal, independent intrinsic safety grounding circuit
  6. Max 64 isolation modules installable on single 16-channel termination base for high-density cabinet layout

Typical Application Scenarios

  • Petrochemical reactor, distillation tower explosion-proof temperature monitoring loops
  • Power plant boiler furnace thermocouple signal isolation & conditioning
  • Chemical batch reactor SIS safety temperature interlock measurement
  • Liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tank RTD temperature detection
  • Metallurgy furnace, heat treatment line hazardous area thermal signal transmission
  • Food & beverage explosion-proof fermentation tank temperature monitoring

Operation & Maintenance Precautions

  1. Configuration via PACTware must be completed before connecting field hazardous zone sensors
  2. Thermocouple extension wire must match thermocouple type to avoid cold junction compensation error
  3. Do not mount modules near heating components (contactors, resistors) to prevent CJC temperature offset
  4. Annual calibration of measurement accuracy required for SIL 2 safety loop applications
  5. Disconnect 24VDC bus power before replacing damaged modules in live process systems
  6. Any internal circuit modification invalidates explosion protection certification
  7. In high humidity cabinet environment, install cabinet heater to prevent terminal condensation
