Product Short Description

Product Name
IOP302 isolated analog input module for Metso/Valmet DNA distributed control systems.
Product Overview
The IOP302 acquires field analog signals from transmitters, sensors and temperature elements and converts them into digital values for the DPU. It is used for pressure, flow, level, temperature and selected auxiliary analog measurements in process automation.

Description

Technical Specifications
Eight independent analog input channels are provided as standard. Supported signal types include 4-20 mA, 0-20 mA, 0-5 V, 0-10 V and ±10 V; temperature configurations support Pt100, Pt1000, Cu50 and thermocouples K/J/T/E/S/R/B on compatible ordering variants. Current input impedance is approximately 250 Ω. Voltage input impedance is 1 MΩ or higher. A/D resolution depends on system firmware and typically provides 12-bit to 16-bit conversion; engineering configuration should be checked against the installed DNA/IOP firmware. Accuracy is ±0.1 percent of full scale under specified calibration conditions. Sampling rate is configurable per channel according to DPU load, commonly 10 to 100 conversions per second per channel on high-speed variants. Galvanic isolation is provided between field and logic sides and, on selected configurations, between channels. Backplane supply is 24 V DC with low power consumption suitable for rack installation. Operating temperature is 0 °C to +60 °C for standard rack variants. Storage temperature is -40 °C to +85 °C. Relative humidity is 5 to 95 percent non-condensing. Protection rating is IP20 for cabinet installation.
Functional Features
Signal conditioning, filtering, linearization, cold-junction compensation for thermocouples, open-circuit and over-range detection, self-diagnostics, per-channel configuration and status indication through system diagnostics.
Applications
Pulp and paper processes, mining, metallurgy, power generation, chemical plants, oil and gas utilities, and water/wastewater treatment where isolated analog acquisition is required.
Construction And Materials
Rack or carrier-mounted I/O card with matched terminal base, field-side electronics, isolation barriers, A/D conversion stage and backplane connector. Industrial plastic/metal faceplate with status LEDs.
Working Principle
Field current or voltage is received through the terminal base, conditioned and converted by the A/D stage, electrically isolated from the logic side, scaled according to the configured engineering range and transmitted to the DPU over the backplane bus.
Installation Requirements
Install the card in the designated Metso/Valmet DNA I/O carrier or S-series rack with the correct terminal base. Configure channel type, range, filtering and cold-junction parameters in the DNA engineering tool. Ground the shield and terminal base according to system grounding rules. Verify loop power for active transmitters.
Precautions
Configure each channel strictly for current, voltage or temperature before wiring. Do not apply voltage to a current-input channel without proper shunt configuration. For thermocouples, verify cold-junction compensation and sensor type. Check open-circuit detection settings to avoid false alarms. Prevent condensation and maintain cabinet temperature within the specified range.
