Product Short Description

Product Brief Introduction

Modular digital I/O expansion slave module matching Kongsberg RCU series main controllers, designed for marine vessel and offshore platform distributed signal collection and field actuator driving. It provides high-density isolated digital input and relay output channels to connect shipboard limit switches, valve position feedback, alarm contactors, pump starter control coils, realizing signal transfer between field equipment and RCU502I main control unit via internal fieldbus.

Function & Feature Highlights

  1. Galvanic isolation per channel eliminates ground loop interference from long marine field wiring
  2. Hot pluggable module design; single RDIOR400 replacement does not shut down entire automation system
  3. Per-channel LED status indicator for input signal presence and relay output actuation
  4. Built-in channel open-circuit fault detection, transmits fault signal to RCU502I main controller for central alarm
  5. Low power consumption passive bus communication, no independent cooling fan required
  6. Wide temperature range industrial grade components adapted to vessel seasonal temperature variation
  7. Modular expandable architecture, multiple RDIOR400 modules can be cascaded under single RCU502I controller
  8. Relay output contact surge suppression internal circuit to extend relay service life

Working Principle

  1. Digital input channels receive on/off contact signals from ship field sensors (valve limit switches, tank high/low level float switches, fire detector contacts).
  2. Isolated optocoupler converts field discrete signal into internal digital logic signal, transmits to RCU502I main controller via fieldbus.
  3. RCU main controller sends control output commands back to RDIOR400 via bus, triggers internal relay contact pull-in to drive field actuators (pump solenoid valves, indicator lamps, alarm buzzers).
  4. Onboard diagnostic circuit continuously scans each input channel wiring continuity, identifies broken cable or loose terminal fault and uploads fault code to central monitoring station.

Material & Structural Composition

  • Housing: Thin cold rolled steel marine anti-salt spray coated frame, slide-in locking rail structure
  • PCB: Marine FR4 substrate with full silicone conformal anti-corrosion coating
  • Input Isolation Components: High withstand voltage optocoupler isolation chips
  • Output Relay: Sealed marine grade electromagnetic relay with anti-surge varistor protection
  • Terminal Blocks: Nickel-plated copper screw terminals, stainless steel locking fasteners
  • Front Panel: Polycarbonate plastic with transparent LED viewing window

Installation Requirements

  1. Slide-in rack installation adjacent to RCU main controller, connected via dedicated internal bus ribbon cable
  2. Field signal wiring must use shielded marine twisted pair cable, separate input and output cable routing to avoid interference
  3. Relay output high-current load wiring terminals shall be tightened with torque screwdriver to prevent loose terminal heat generation
  4. Install inside IP54 dehumidified marine control cabinet, avoid direct salt fog or water vapor contact
  5. Maximum field wiring distance between RDIOR400 and field equipment shall not exceed 100 meters with 1.5 mm² cross-section cable

Application Scenarios

  • Vessel ballast tank valve position feedback signal collection
  • Main engine auxiliary pump, cooling fan start/stop control output
  • Fire and gas detector discrete alarm signal input
  • Cargo hold door, hatch cover limit switch signal monitoring
  • Offshore platform safety ESD emergency stop contact signal processing

Operation & Maintenance Precautions

  1. Do not connect AC high voltage signal directly to digital input channels, will burn internal optocoupler isolation circuit
  2. Relay output contact load shall not exceed rated 5 A resistive load; inductive loads (solenoid coils) must add external surge absorption diode
  3. Annual inspection of terminal screw tightness, marine vibration will cause screw loosening over long-term operation
  4. Module shall not be disassembled on board vessel; internal conformal coating damage will lead to salt fog short circuit failure
  5. Hot plug operation must be executed under RCU controller running state, avoid bus communication crash
