- Locking rack slide latch to secure module against cabinet vibration displacement
Working Principle
Converts wide-range alternating mains voltage via full-bridge rectifier and isolated high-frequency switching power topology; internal feedback loop stabilizes 24 VDC and 5 VDC output rails; constant monitoring circuits track output voltage, current and internal temperature; triggers automatic protection shutdown or relay fault signal upon overvoltage, overcurrent and over-temperature events; distributes regulated power through rack backplane bus to all installed I/O modules.
Advantage Highlights
- Universal wide AC input eliminates need for separate step-down transformers for global site deployment
- N+1 redundant parallel capability enhances control system uninterrupted operation reliability
- Passive convection cooling design removes fan maintenance and dust accumulation failure risks
- Fast fault relay signal output enables centralized cabinet power alarm interlock
- Compact single-slot rack design minimizes cabinet space occupation
Applicable Industries
Thermal power plants, petrochemical refineries, chemical batch manufacturing, municipal water treatment plants, mining process control, pharmaceutical sterile production lines
Installation Requirements
- Mount only in Honeywell designated leftmost power slot of standard DCS I/O rack
- Maintain minimum 20 mm top and bottom ventilation clearance inside control cabinet
- AC input wiring must comply with local industrial electrical safety code, install external circuit breaker rated 10 A maximum
- For redundant dual power layout, connect fault signal relays in series to central cabinet alarm system
- Cabinet ambient air flow must maintain air temperature below 55 °C maximum operating rating
Usage Precautions
- Do not daisy-chain multiple MCP-1004 units on a single AC input circuit without independent overcurrent protection
- Never short-circuit the 24 VDC main output rail; permanent internal circuit damage will occur
- Avoid installing adjacent to high heat generating equipment (heating relays, high power contactors) inside cabinet
- Disconnect AC input power before removing module from rack for inspection or replacement
- Prevent metal debris or conductive dust accumulation on ventilation slots of module casing
