Product Short Description

Product Introduction

The LG1093AC01 is a solar-blind ultraviolet (UV) flame detection sensor engineered for continuous safety monitoring of industrial gas/oil burners, boilers and gas turbines. It detects unique UV radiation emitted by combustion flames within the 180–260 nm wavelength band, completely rejecting visible sunlight and artificial light interference signals. The AC01 suffix denotes factory-fitted 9-foot (2.7 m) stainless steel armored signal cable connecting the UV sensing head to EG1033 series flame amplifier control units, delivering real-time flame presence/absence safety signals to burner management systems (BMS).

Working Principle

Combustion flames emit characteristic ultraviolet radiation within the 180–260 nm detection band, passing through the sensor quartz viewing window into the gas-filled Geiger-Mueller UV phototube. UV photons ionize internal gas molecules generating tiny electrical discharge pulses proportional to flame UV intensity. Pulse signals transmit via the two-conductor armored cable to the EG1033 amplifier unit, which converts pulse frequency into discrete flame present/flame absent digital logic signals for the burner management safety controller. The solar-blind spectral cutoff completely blocks all longer-wavelength light sources that would create false flame detection triggers. If UV pulse frequency drops below calibrated flame threshold, the amplifier sends immediate flame loss shutdown signals within 0.2 seconds.

Material & Structural Composition

  • Sensing Head Housing: Machined 316 stainless steel explosion-proof pressure vessel body
  • Viewport Window: Synthetic high-temperature UV-transparent quartz crystal
  • Internal Sensing Element: Hermetically sealed gas-filled Geiger-Mueller UV phototube
  • Signal Cable: Dual copper conductor core encased in braided stainless steel armor outer sheath
  • Sealing Materials: High-temperature fluorosilicone rubber gaskets resistant to combustion gas chemical corrosion
  • Mounting Flange: Integral machined stainless steel threaded flange for burner sight port fastening

Installation Requirements

  1. Mount sensor threaded flange directly to dedicated burner sight glass port; align viewing window for unobstructed line-of-sight flame observation
  2. Avoid mounting with direct exposure to hot furnace refractory glow or secondary combustion UV reflection
  3. Route armored cable away from high-temperature burner exhaust surfaces; maintain minimum 10 cm clearance from flame radiation zones
  4. Cable connection to EG1033 amplifier must use shielded terminal wiring with single-point PE ground connection
  5. For hazardous area installation, comply fully with ATEX/FM explosion-proof wiring conduit standards
  6. Tighten flange mounting bolts evenly to avoid quartz window gasket leakage under process pressure
  7. Maintain maximum 330 m total cable run between sensor head and flame amplifier unit

Application Scenarios

  • Industrial natural gas / light oil fired steam and hot water boiler flame safety monitoring
  • Gas turbine combustion chamber flame detection for power generation units
  • Refinery process heater and cracking furnace burner flame supervision
  • Petrochemical plant thermal oxidizer and waste gas incinerator safety cut-off systems
  • Manufacturing plant heat treatment furnace gas burner flame protection control

Usage Precautions

  • Complete fuel supply isolation and equipment cool-down before removing sensor from burner sight port
  • Do not scratch or contaminate quartz viewing window with grease, soot or dust; partial blockage causes weak UV signal and false flame loss faults
  • Regularly clean quartz window every 3 months to remove combustion soot buildup blocking UV transmission
  • Avoid mechanical impact to stainless steel sensing head body; internal phototube damage causes permanent detection failure
  • Verify amplifier power supply voltage stays within 20–35 VDC operating range; under/overvoltage distorts flame signal accuracy
  • Replace UV sensor tube if flame detection sensitivity drifts after 10,000 operating hours of continuous service
  • Armored cable armor sheath must connect to facility protective earth at amplifier cabinet end only to eliminate ground loop signal noise
