Working Principle

Fused silica window transmits only 190–290nm UV radiation emitted by hydrocarbon combustion flames to internal UV photocell; incident UV photons ionize gas within discharge tube generating continuous pulse electrical signals proportional to flame intensity. Absence of UV flame radiation eliminates pulse output, triggering safety control system flame-out shutdown interlock to cut fuel supply and prevent hazardous unburned gas accumulation.

Advantage Highlights

  1. Targeted UV spectrum filtering eliminates all common industrial false alarm interference sources
  2. High-temperature alloy housing and quartz window compatible with gas turbine combustor flange mounting
  3. Factory integrated 4.9m armored high-temperature cable eliminates field high-temperature wiring fabrication
  4. IP65 sealed construction resists turbine compartment oil mist, water vapor and dust ingress
  5. Global explosion-proof hazardous area certifications for power generation and oil & gas combustion safety systems

Applicable Industries

Combined cycle gas turbine power plants, industrial steam boiler combustion control, refinery process heaters, natural gas pipeline burners, chemical furnace flame safety monitoring

Installation Requirements

  1. Thread sensor head 3/4-inch NPT fitting directly into turbine combustor sight port with high-temperature anti-seize thread compound
  2. Maintain unobstructed 80° field of view between quartz window and flame combustion zone with no mechanical obstructions
  3. Route armored cable with minimum 100mm bend radius to avoid steel armor kinking and internal conductor damage
  4. Connect cable green ground conductor to combustion safety cabinet dedicated safety ground busbar
  5. Mount cable support clamps every 1.2 meters to eliminate cable weight tensile load on sensor head gland

Usage Precautions

  1. Prevent mechanical scratch damage to fused silica optical window; scratches reduce UV transmission and cause low flame signal faults
  2. Do not operate sensor head above 177°C continuous temperature rating; permanent photocell degradation occurs
  3. Avoid direct high-pressure process steam jet cleaning of sensor head quartz window
  4. Inspect cable armor annually for corrosion damage in offshore or coastal salt-air environments
  5. Calibrate flame signal detection threshold every 18 months per combustion safety system regulatory standards
