Product Short Description
Product Name
Honeywell CC-PAON01 Analog Output Module, 8-Channel HART
Product Introduction
CC-PAON01 is a Series C analog output module for Experion PKS C300 I/O. It converts controller set points into isolated 4-20 mA signals for valves, positioners, actuators and variable-speed drives, and supports HART communication for configuration and diagnostics.

Functional Features
Per-channel galvanic isolation. Programmable fail-safe output state. Hot-swap replacement in supported carriers. HART device configuration without interrupting the analog control signal. Live output readback for preventive maintenance.
Application Scenarios
Control-valve positioners, smart valve actuators, I/P converters, variable-frequency-drive speed commands, burner air/gas ratio control, boiler feedwater and steam pressure control, chemical dosing pumps and pharmaceutical bioreactor analog set points.
Performance Parameters
Sixteen-bit DAC provides fine set-point resolution across the 4-20 mA range. The 750 Ω load capability supports long field loops with 24 V loop supply. HART pass-through enables range, damping, tag and diagnostic reading while the analog value remains active.
Material Composition
Industrial multilayer PCB, 16-bit DAC components, galvanic isolation barriers, surface-mount power stages, metal backplane edge connector and molded faceplate with per-channel and module-status LEDs.
Structural Characteristics
Plug-in Series C output PWA. Active electronics reside in the module; field wiring terminates on the IOTA. The divided design allows module replacement without disturbing field cables in hot-swap-capable carriers.
Working Principle
The C300 controller sends a digital output value over the Series C backplane. The DAC converts the value to a precise current. The output stage drives the field loop through the IOTA. HART modem circuitry modulates digital packets onto the same 4-20 mA loop for two-way instrument communication.
Installation Requirements
Install CC-PAON01 in a standard Series C I/O carrier and mate it with the correct analog output IOTA. Connect field devices with shielded twisted pair, maintain proper loop polarity and confirm loop load below the 750 Ω limit at 24 V. Configure output range, HART parameters and fail-safe action in the Experion project before placing the loop in service.
Usage Precautions
Remove IOTA and backplane power before any non-hot-swap service. Verify that CC-PAON01 is not substituted directly for CC-PAOX01 16-channel high-density output because pinout and termination differ. Check open-load and shorted-loop alarms during start-up. Ground shields only at the designated cabinet ground point to avoid ground loops.
