Product Short Description
Product Name
C7012E1104 Self-Checking Ultraviolet Flame Detector, Purple Peeper
Product Introduction
C7012E1104 is a solid-state ultraviolet flame scanner for Honeywell flame safeguard systems. It senses ultraviolet radiation from gas, oil, coal and other fuel combustion and works with compatible flame amplifiers to confirm flame presence, execute self-check and support burner safety shutoff.

Functional Features
Dynamic self-checking shutter verifies detector and optical path integrity. Field-replaceable UV tube and quartz window. Horizontal, vertical or angled mounting. Parallel connection of two detectors reduces nuisance shutdowns in difficult sighting conditions.
Application Scenarios
Gas-fired burners, oil-fired boilers, coal pulverizer ignition supervision, industrial furnaces, process heaters and packaged burner systems requiring continuous UV flame confirmation.
Performance Parameters
UV sensing response covers flame radiation in the ultraviolet band. Self-check shutter cycle validates the detector without interrupting normal flame supervision. NEMA 4 enclosure supports indoor and outdoor burner locations not requiring explosion-proof classification.
Material Composition
Cast aluminum housing and cover. Quartz UV viewing window. Solid-state UV sensing tube. Electrically insulated internal wiring and color-coded copper conductors.
Structural Characteristics
Cylindrical sensor head with integral mounting flange, threaded conduit entrance and lead-wire exit. Self-contained mechanical shutter assembly. Separate amplifier interface through the six lead wires.
Working Principle
Combustion produces ultraviolet radiation. The UV tube converts radiation intensity into electrical signals. The internal shutter periodically interrupts the optical path; the flame amplifier compares live UV signals with the self-check pattern to distinguish real flame, detector degradation, blocked window or complete failure.
Installation Requirements
Install the 3/4 in NPT connection at the burner front with a clear line of sight to the flame. Orient the window toward the monitored flame zone. Use conduit and proper NEC Class 1 wiring methods. Connect the six color-coded leads to the approved Honeywell amplifier. Verify amplifier model, supply voltage and ground continuity before energizing.
Usage Precautions
De-energize and lock out the flame safeguard circuit before wiring or replacing the tube. Keep the quartz window clean and free of oil, soot or moisture. Do not use this NEMA 4 model in areas requiring explosion-proof housing; select the proper C7012 hazardous-area variant instead. Confirm amplifier compatibility and perform full flame simulation and self-check test after installation.
