Product Introduction
HIMA F6217 is a TÜV-certified safety analog input module dedicated to SIL3 safety instrumented systems (SIS). It acquires analog field sensor signals and converts them into safety-critical digital data for HIMatrix safety PLC controllers. Every channel implements independent galvanic safety isolation to eliminate ground loop interference and cross-channel signal crosstalk, complying with AK6 and IEC 61508 functional safety standards for process safety applications.

Working Principle
Field analog voltage/current signals pass through channel-specific isolation transformers and low-pass filter circuits, then feed into dual redundant 12-bit ADC chips. Two independent ADCs sample identical signals simultaneously and transmit digital values to internal safety logic CPU. The CPU executes 1oo2 voting algorithm; only matching valid sampling data is forwarded to the safety PLC main controller. Any mismatch between dual sampling paths triggers immediate channel fault alarm and safety signal freeze function to avoid false safety actuation.

Installation Requirements
- Mount on standard 19-inch Eurocard rack with HIMatrix dedicated backplane bus
- Maintain minimum 10 mm vertical clearance above and below module for heat dissipation
- Field wiring must use shielded twisted-pair cables; cable shield single-end grounded at cabinet terminal strip
- Maximum wire gauge for terminal blocks: 1.5 mm² solid copper wire
- Power supply must provide isolated 5 V DC logic power and 24 V DC field power with ≤ 50 mV ripple
- Install surge protection barrier terminals between module and field sensors for outdoor wiring runs
Usage Notes
