Product Short Description
Product Overview
This is a dedicated high-speed synchronization communication module for GE Series 90-70 PLC hot standby redundant CPU systems, serving as the exclusive data bridge between primary active CPU and backup standby CPU. It realizes real-time logic program, I/O status, register data synchronization, and supports bumpless automatic failover when main CPU malfunctions, eliminating production downtime caused by single CPU failure. The model is discontinued by GE official, only supplied via industrial automation spare parts channels.

Function & Performance Features
- Dual-channel redundant communication design, single cable fault will not interrupt synchronization
- Supports Hot Standby and Enhanced Hot Standby two redundant modes; Enhanced mode achieves millisecond-level seamless switchover
- Real-time full data synchronization: All user logic, analog/digital I/O status, internal register values, fault logs are copied to backup CPU synchronously
- Built-in manual control pushbutton: Manually trigger primary/backup switchover for online maintenance of active CPU without system shutdown
- Multi-group LED status indicators: Power OK, Sync Active, Fault, Primary/Backup Status, Cable Link Alarm
- Complete self-diagnosis function: Detect cable disconnection, communication timeout, module hardware damage, backplane power anomaly, upload fault codes to CPU system log
- Isolated communication circuit, anti-industrial electromagnetic interference (EMI) from frequency converters and high-current equipment
Working Principle
After the PLC system powers on, primary CPU runs full control logic, and IC697RCM711 continuously transmits real-time operating data to the secondary CPU via parallel high-speed bus. The backup CPU keeps consistent operating state with the primary without outputting control signals. When primary CPU hardware failure, power loss or communication loss occurs, the module immediately triggers hardware-level failover within 10ms, the backup CPU takes over all control output without signal jump or process interruption. The manual button forces state switching for offline maintenance of the main controller.
Material & Structural Characteristics
- Front panel: Black ABS flame-retardant plastic, dust-proof, with labeled LED indicator area and manual switch
- Main circuit board: FR-4 high-temperature resistant PCB, gold-plated backplane connector pins for anti-oxidation and stable contact
- Internal components: Industrial-grade FPGA communication chip, surge protection capacitor, high-speed differential signal transceiver, low-temperature crystal oscillator
- Locking structure: Spring metal latch for fixing on PLC rack, anti-vibration under industrial shock conditions
Installation Requirements
- Install the module into any empty slot of GE Series 90-70 standard backplane, lock the front latch tightly to avoid loose contact from vibration
- Connect dedicated IC600WD shielded redundancy cable between two IC697RCM711 modules on primary and backup PLC racks; cable length cannot exceed 15m
- Separate redundancy communication cable from high-power AC cables by ≥30cm to avoid signal interference
- Rack operating environment must maintain -20°C ~ +60°C, avoid direct sunlight and heat source radiation
- Ground the PLC cabinet with 4mm² copper wire to realize overall EMI shielding
Application Scenarios
- Power plant boiler/turbine control systems
- Petrochemical continuous production process control
- Water treatment uninterrupted DCS control
- Pharmaceutical full-automatic continuous production lines
- Railway signal critical control systems
- Steel mill continuous rolling production lines
Operation & Maintenance Precautions
- Cut off rack power before plugging/unplugging the module; hot plugging will burn internal communication chips
- Do not use non-dedicated ordinary network cables to replace official redundancy cables, which will cause synchronization delay and switchover failure
- Regularly check LED fault indicators; red fault light requires immediate power-off inspection of cable and module
- Storage environment: -40°C ~ +85°C, humidity ≤90% non-condensing, sealed anti-static packaging
- The module cannot be modified or disassembled privately; disassembly will invalidate spare part warranty
