Product Short Description

Product Name
GE Fanuc Genius I/O RTD input block, 6-channel resistance-temperature-detector acquisition module.
Product Introduction
IC660BBA021 reads six RTD sensors and converts temperature resistance into engineering values for the Genius I/O network. The block is used for process temperature monitoring where platinum, nickel, copper, or linear resistance inputs must be reported to a PLC or DCS.

Linearization for configured RTD characteristic.
Engineering-unit reporting in temperature, ohms, or counts.
Per-channel alarm limits, filtering, and fault reporting.
Genius bus communication with Unit OK and I/O Enabled LEDs.
Application Scenarios
Motor winding temperature monitoring.
Heat-treatment furnace and oven sensing.
HVAC and chiller temperature control.
Tank, pipe, and process-line thermal supervision.
Performance Parameters
Temperature resolution 0.1°C with configured update time.
Longer update time increases averaging and effective resolution.
Diagnostic response covers open wire, shorted input, wiring error, overrange, underrange, and high/low alarms.
Materials And Construction
Industrial molded enclosure for Genius block mounting.
PCB with RTD excitation, multiplexer, reference resistors, and isolation components.
Screw terminal block for sensor and power wiring.
Sealed calibration references and solid-state measurement front end.
Working Principle
The block excites each RTD, measures voltage drop through a multiplexed channel sequence, and compares results with internal reference resistors. The processor linearizes resistance versus temperature, applies filters and alarm limits, and transmits values over the Genius bus. Continuous self-test detects open, short, and out-of-range conditions.
Installation Requirements
Install in a protected enclosure with Genius bus termination.
Use 2-wire or 3-wire RTD connection according to sensor accuracy requirements.
Supply 18 to 56 VDC block power with correct polarity.
Configure sensor type, alpha, update rate, and alarms before active use.
Allow ventilation space for maximum 7 W heat dissipation.
Usage Precautions
Only configure sensor types matching the physically installed RTD.
Do not exceed 5000 ohm input range.
Verify 3-wire compensation wiring to prevent false temperature offset.
Disable or enable diagnostics per channel according to process-safety rules.
Perform replacement with same IC660BBA021 configuration to avoid recalibration errors.
