Product Short Description
Product Name
IOM230 CAN-bus analog output expansion module for DEIF genset and power management controllers.
Product Overview
The IOM230 extends analog output capacity for DEIF AGC 150, AGC 200 and AGC-4 Mk II controllers. It provides independent configurable analog channels for governor speed control, AVR voltage control and load-sharing signals, and communicates with the host controller over CAN.
Description
Technical Specifications
Analog output configuration supports two independent channels on standard configurations, with available ranges including 0-20 mA, ±25 mA, 0-10 V and ±12 V DC depending on order code; certain shipped variants are configured for ±12 V DC only, so the module label and controller configuration must be verified. CAN-bus communication uses configurable ID switches ID0-ID2. Supply voltage is 12 V DC or 24 V DC. Power consumption depends on output load; typical genset configurations are planned for up to 2 A total module current on fully loaded variants. Output accuracy is suitable for governor and AVR control loops. Response time is within milliseconds for configured analog ranges. Insulation rating for analog output circuits is 50 V CAT III on ±12 V configurations. Operating temperature range is -40 °C to +70 °C for industrial and marine variants. Enclosure is suitable for control-cabinet installation with IP20 frontal/protection according to mounting. Module mass is approximately 0.27 kg for the bare unit and higher when supplied with brackets, packaging or kits. Flammability classification is 94V-0 for industrial control equipment variants.
Functional Features
CAN integration with DEIF genset controllers, independent analog output ranges per channel, governor/AVR/load-share mapping, ID-selectable CAN addressing, self-diagnostics through controller engineering tools, and compact cabinet footprint.
Applications
Diesel and gas generator sets, paralleling switchgear, prime-power and island grids, marine main and auxiliary engine control, data-center standby power, and industrial self-owned power plants.
Construction And Materials
Low-profile module housing with pluggable power, CAN and analog terminals, DIP or rotary CAN-ID setting, internal D/A conversion stage and galvanic separation appropriate to the ordered output range.
Working Principle
The host controller sends speed, voltage and load-share setpoints over CAN. The IOM230 converts each digital setpoint into the configured current or voltage signal and drives the external governor actuator, AVR or load-share transducer. Feedback and diagnostics are returned to the controller over the CAN network.
Installation Requirements
Mount inside the genset or switchgear control cabinet. Connect CAN to the controller CAN/C-bus with correct termination and unique ID setting. Supply 12 V DC or 24 V DC through protected wiring. Use shielded analog cables for governor and AVR outputs. Bond the module ground to the control-system ground scheme.
Precautions
Verify each channel range before connecting actuators; ±25 mA suits hydraulic governors, 0-20 mA suits electronic governors, ±12 V or 0-10 V suits AVR and special transducer interfaces. Never assign duplicate CAN IDs on the same bus. Check reverse-polarity protection and fuse sizing. Inspect CAN termination and analog-loop integrity after installation. Replace as a complete module after confirmed CAN communication failure, zero output or configuration error.
