Product Short Description

Product Overview

Manufactured by Bender GmbH & Co. KG, Germany, the RCM475LY-13 is an industrial-grade residual current monitoring device compliant with Type B classification under IEC 60755. It continuously tracks AC, pulsating DC and smooth DC residual ground fault currents within TN and TT grounded power distribution systems. Unlike residual current circuit breakers that cut power immediately upon fault detection, this monitor delivers early pre-fault alarm signals to control systems, enabling planned maintenance before equipment damage or electric shock hazards occur.

Core Function Features

Full AC/DC Residual Current Detection Capability

The device’s Type B detection circuit accurately identifies all forms of ground fault leakage current, including low-frequency smooth DC generated by frequency converters, UPS power supplies, rectifier battery chargers and variable frequency motor drives. No external auxiliary transformers are required for mixed AC/DC load circuits.

Adjustable Anti-Nuisance Tripping Time Delay

0 to 10 seconds fully configurable alarm delay eliminates false alarm triggers caused by transient switching surges, capacitive charging currents of long cable harnesses and temporary equipment startup leakage peaks. Users calibrate delay values according to on-site load characteristics to balance fault response speed and operational stability.

Dual Configurable Fault Memory Operation Modes

  • Latching mode: Alarm relay contact state remains locked after ground fault clearance; manual reset via front panel button or external reset signal is mandatory to restore normal monitoring state.
  • Non-latching mode: Relay contacts automatically reset to original state once measured residual current drops below the preset response threshold, suitable for automatic circulating monitoring loops.

Independent selection of normally energized or normally de-energized relay base state enables flexible integration with PLC input modules, audible buzzers and warning beacon light circuits.

Integrated Visual Status Indication System

  • Multi-segment LED bar graph: Real-time visual display of measured residual current as a percentage scale of the user-set alarm threshold (0% – 100%).
  • Independent dedicated LED indicators: Power supply operation status light, ground fault alarm trigger light, extraneous stray voltage warning light.
  • Sealable transparent protective front cover for all adjustment potentiometers and operation buttons, preventing unauthorized parameter tampering in public or unattended electrical control cabinets.

Built-In Test & Reset Operating Interface

Combined TEST / RESET tactile button installed on the front panel, supporting two independent functional operations:
  1. TEST function: Simulates artificial residual fault current to fully verify the complete measurement circuit, signal processing logic and alarm relay output without disconnecting on-site power load wiring.
  2. RESET function: Clears latching fault memory state and extinguishes all fault indication LEDs after fault troubleshooting completion.

External remote test and reset signal terminals are reserved on the wiring base for centralized cabinet control panel operation integration.

External Measuring Instrument Output Terminal

Galvanically isolated signal output port compatible with external analog panel meters, data acquisition transducers and secondary monitoring display units. Output signal specification: DC 0 μA – 400 μA driving current, maximum connected load impedance 12.5 kΩ, maximum allowable external measuring cable total length 10 meters without signal attenuation.

Comprehensive Built-In Self-Monitoring Circuit

Continuous background self-diagnosis runs parallel to normal residual current measurement, automatically detecting internal power supply voltage anomalies, measuring transformer open-circuit faults, front panel button circuit failures and extraneous stray voltage intrusion into the internal measuring circuit. All abnormal self-check results trigger dedicated warning LED indication without interrupting primary ground fault monitoring functionality.
