Product Short Description
Product Name
IOP320 8-channel analog output module, part number 181545, for Metso DNA and maxDNA systems.
Product Overview
The IOP320 converts digital control commands from the DPU into standard 4-20 mA field signals for control valves, actuators, drives and other analog final elements. It is designed for continuous process control with galvanic isolation and per-channel protection.
Description
Technical Specifications
Eight analog output channels are provided. Standard output is 4-20 mA current loop. D/A resolution is 12 bits as standard; higher-resolution configurations are available on selected system revisions. HART communication is supported on individual channels for HART-enabled variants. Galvanic isolation is provided between channels and bus and between field and logic according to the carrier design. Backplane supply is 24 V DC through the I/O bus. Typical power consumption is 5 W or less. Each channel can be individually fused or protected according to the carrier configuration. Operating temperature is 0 °C to +60 °C on standard variants and 0 °C to +55 °C on certain maxPAC configurations. Storage temperature is -40 °C to +70 °C. Relative humidity is 5 to 95 percent non-condensing. Protection rating is IP20. Mechanical size for the card section is approximately 158 mm × 32 mm × 55 mm; total weight depends on carrier and supplier package.
Functional Features
Per-channel fusing or electronic protection, active and fuse-status indication, configurable fail-safe behavior, HART pass-through, hot replacement on compatible carriers, and deterministic DPU scanning.
Applications
Control-valve positioning in power boilers and recovery boilers, damper and combustion-air control, variable-speed-drive setpoints, chemical dosing pumps, oil and gas flow control, and water-treatment actuator control.
Construction And Materials
I/O bus card with D/A conversion, HART modem components on HART variants, isolation components, status LEDs and terminal interface through the assigned CPO or carrier terminal block.
Working Principle
The DPU sends a digital output command over the backplane. The module converts the command in the D/A stage, isolates the signal, optionally superimposes HART digital communication, and drives the 4-20 mA loop to the field instrument.
Installation Requirements
Insert the module in the correct Metso DNA/maxDNA I/O carrier. Connect field loops through the assigned terminal block. Set fail-safe jumpers or software options for hold-last-value or zero on communication loss. For HART, verify loop resistance and HART terminators. Confirm carrier supports hot replacement before live replacement.
Precautions
Do not exceed the channel current, loop-load and fuse ratings. Verify HART resistor values and addressing before commissioning. Replace a faulty channel only after isolating short circuits. Perform live replacement only on carriers qualified for hot swap. Periodically test fuse-status indicators during preventive maintenance.
