Product Short Description
Product Name: Eaton CE15KN3 (CE15KN3AB) Freedom Series IEC Non-Reversing Magnetic Contactor.
Product Overview: A 3-pole, non-reversing IEC contactor from Eaton’s Cutler-Hammer Freedom K-Frame series. It is designed for switching medium-power 3-phase AC motors and industrial loads. The CE15KN3 designation commonly corresponds to the CE15KN3AB complete part number.

- Certifications: UL, CSA, IEC 947-4-1, DIN VDE 0600
Functional Features:
- Reliable switching of medium to large 3-phase AC loads
- Silver-cadmium oxide contacts with high conductivity and arc-erosion resistance
- Mechanical life: 20,000,000 operations; Electrical life: 2,000,000 operations
- Compatible with auxiliary contact modules for control circuit expansion
- Open-type construction for optimal heat dissipation in enclosed panels
Working Principle: When the coil is energized at the rated control voltage, an electromagnetic field attracts the moving armature,
closing the three main contacts to complete the 3-phase load circuit. De-energizing the coil releases the armature, opening the contacts
and disconnecting the load.
Application Scenarios: Full-voltage starting of 3-phase induction motors (fans, pumps, compressors), main load switching in control
panels, motor control centers (MCC), and industrial power distribution.
Installation & Usage Notes:
- Verify coil voltage matches the available control power (110–120 VAC for CE15KN3AB; 440–480 VAC for CE15KN3CB)
- Mount securely on steel plate or DIN rail inside an enclosed panel; observe IP00 open-type rating — fingers and tools must not contact
live parts - Use correct wire gauges and torque values to prevent overheating at terminals
- Ensure adequate spacing around the contactor for heat dissipation
- Pair with appropriately sized overload relays for motor protection
- Do not exceed 73 A continuous current or the listed HP ratings per IEC AC-3 utilization category
- Maintain control voltage within 85–110% of nominal during pull-in; release occurs at 20–75% of nominal
