Core Functional Features

  1. Multi-Type Mixed Signal Integrated Acquisition & Local Actuator Output Control Function

    The RCU501 remote control unit integrates three types of signal channels including digital input, relay digital output and 4–20mA analog input on a single compact module, realizing simultaneous collection of marine discrete switch signals and analog process parameter signals in the same local shipboard area, and executing local actuator drive control according to instructions issued by the central marine automation main control cabinet. The integrated multi-channel mixed signal design reduces the total number of distributed I/O modules installed on board, saves marine electrical cabinet internal installation space and reduces ship wiring construction workload and cable material cost.

  2. Marine Anti-Interference Full Galvanic Isolation Circuit Design

    All digital input, digital output and analog input channels of the RCU501 module adopt independent optocoupler isolation or relay isolation circuits, with 1000VDC isolation voltage between each channel. The full galvanic isolation design thoroughly eliminates cross-channel signal crosstalk interference caused by hull power grid strong electromagnetic noise generated by marine main engine, auxiliary diesel generator, large-size marine frequency converter and high-power marine pump motor startup and shutdown operations, ensuring stable and accurate collection of shipboard weak analog signals and discrete switch state signals under complex marine electromagnetic interference environments.

  3. DNV Certified Marine K-Bus CAN Field Bus High-Speed Reliable Communication Function

    The module adopts Kongsberg exclusive K-Bus differential CAN marine field bus communication technology, with a transmission rate of 500kbps, supporting long-distance cable wiring transmission between ship central main control cabinet and distributed local RCU modules across multiple cabin compartments. The differential bus wiring design has strong anti-electromagnetic interference capability to adapt to long-distance marine multi-cabin cable laying environments. The RCU501 module supports automatic bus node address identification, hot-plug detection and real-time communication heartbeat monitoring functions. Once bus communication interruption faults between the module and central main control cabinet are detected, the module automatically locks all digital output channels to user pre-configured marine safety fail-safe state to avoid dangerous misoperation of shipboard valves and auxiliary equipment actuators caused by communication loss.

  4. Marine Special Harsh Environment Adaptation Design

    The RCU501 remote control unit is fully optimized and designed for marine harsh navigation environments: the internal multi-layer circuit board is coated with three-proof protective paint (anti-mold, anti-salt spray, anti-moisture corrosion) to resist long-term high-humidity, salt fog and mold growth environments in marine engine rooms and deck electrical boxes; all wiring terminals adopt thick gold plating corrosion-resistant treatment to avoid poor contact faults caused by marine salt fog corrosion; the module shell is made of high-strength anti-corrosion flame retardant ABS plastic with UL94-V0 flame retardant grade, which can effectively block flame spread in case of internal circuit short-circuit fire hazards on board; the overall structural design complies with IEC60092 marine vibration and impact resistance standards, and can maintain stable fixed installation and normal circuit operation under long-term hull navigation vibration and wave impact shock conditions.

  5. Independent Single-Channel Real-Time Fault Diagnosis & Precise Fault Location Function

    Dedicated hardware monitoring circuits continuously detect the loop state of each digital input, digital output and analog input channel of the RCU501 module during normal marine operation. Once single-channel signal loop open-circuit disconnection fault, short-circuit grounding fault, overvoltage input fault or relay output load short-circuit burnout fault is detected, the fault diagnosis circuit generates a unique independent fault identification code for the faulty channel. Fault codes are uploaded to the Kongsberg K-Chief central marine automation main control cabinet through the K-Bus marine field bus, and the corresponding channel fault LED indicator on the module front panel lights up to guide ship electrical maintenance personnel to quickly locate the faulty shipboard sensor or actuator wiring channel without complicated circuit inspection work in narrow marine electrical cabinets.

  6. Complete Power-On Full BIST Marine Hardware Self-Test Function

    After the 24VDC marine DC power supply is connected to the RCU501 module power terminals, the module automatically executes a full-range BIST hardware self-test program adapted to marine equipment standards before entering normal signal collection and control output operation mode. The self-test sequentially verifies the K-Bus marine field bus communication drive circuit, all 16-channel digital input optocoupler acquisition circuits, all 8-channel relay digital output drive circuits, all 4-channel analog input signal acquisition circuits, multi-layer marine power supply protection circuits and single-channel loop fault diagnosis monitoring circuits. All hardware fault information detected during the power-on self-test is displayed through dedicated public hardware fault LED indicators on the front panel of the module, and fault information is simultaneously uploaded to the central marine automation main control cabinet through the K-Bus marine field bus. During normal continuous navigation operation after power-on self-test completion, the module runs a real-time hardware self-diagnosis program in the background at all times to continuously monitor the operating state of all internal hardware circuits and relay output components. Once real-time hardware operation abnormalities are detected during ship navigation, the module immediately generates marine equipment hardware fault alarm information, lights up the corresponding fault LED indicator on the front panel, and uploads fault alarm data to the central marine automation main control cabinet in real time to remind ship officers and electrical maintenance personnel to carry out fault inspection and maintenance work in a timely manner.

  7. Remote Online Firmware Upgrade & Channel Signal Parameter Batch Configuration Support

    The RCU501 marine remote control unit supports remote online underlying firmware program full upgrade and channel signal type configuration, analog signal engineering range calibration parameter modification batch configuration download operations initiated by the Kongsberg K-Chief central marine automation main control cabinet through the K-Bus marine field bus communication channel. The firmware upgrade and parameter batch modification processes do not require module power-off or DIN rail disassembly operations; all shipboard sensor signal collection and local actuator control output functions can continue to run normally during remote configuration execution processes without interrupting the normal operation of ship marine automation monitoring and control functions. If firmware data packet transmission or parameter configuration data transmission is abnormally interrupted during remote upgrade or download processes, the module automatically rolls back to the original stable firmware program version and original channel signal calibration parameter set to avoid distributed I/O signal collection and local actuator control function failure faults caused by incomplete configuration update operations during ship navigation.

  8. Multi-Group Independent LED Status Indication Design Adapted to Marine Maintenance Operations

    The front panel of the RCU501 marine remote control unit is equipped with multiple groups of independent high-brightness LED indicator lights to visually display the real-time operating state of the module for ship electrical maintenance personnel without logging into the central marine automation main control cabinet monitoring interface in narrow marine engine room electrical cabinets:

  • Public power supply running LED indicator (steady light for normal 24VDC marine power supply input, off for power supply loss fault);
  • K-Bus marine field bus communication running LED indicator (steady light for normal bus connection with central main control cabinet, flashing light for bus communication interruption fault);
  • 16 independent digital input channel status LED indicators (steady light for field switch closed state, off for field switch open state, flashing light for channel loop fault);
  • 8 independent digital output channel status LED indicators (steady light for relay output contact closed and actuator
