Product Introduction
MAE99-04 is an 8-channel multi-protocol serial signal isolation card independently developed by ALSTOM (now GE Grid Solutions) for power grid, thermal power and heavy industry DCS control systems. It provides complete electrical isolation between central control serial bus and field remote RTU, protection relays and serial field instruments, eliminating ground loop surge and high-voltage transient interference damage to core control equipment in high-voltage power plant environments.

Working Principle
- Uplink data path: Serial signal from central controller enters internal isolation circuit; optoelectronic isolation separates control side low-voltage circuit and field side high-voltage interference circuit
- Downlink data path: Field serial equipment signal passes ESD protection circuit, magnetic isolation and optocoupler secondary isolation before transmitting to central control bus
- Dual power supply management circuit monitors two 24VDC input sources; seamless automatic switchover upon one power loss
- Channel signal detection circuit drives LED indicators to light up during data transmit/receive for communication fault visual diagnosis

Installation Requirements
- Mount on standard 35mm DIN rail inside industrial control cabinet; reserve ≥15mm horizontal clearance between adjacent modules
- Separate controller-side and field-side serial cables with independent wiring trunking to avoid signal crosstalk
- Power supply wiring adopts 1.0mm² cross-section copper wire; terminal screw torque fixed at 0.7 N·m
- Cabinet must equip ground copper bar; module housing earth terminal connected to cabinet protective earth
- Ambient cabinet temperature maintained below 65°C; forced cooling fan required for power plant cabinet high heat load
Usage Notes
- Prohibit connection of serial signal lines with voltage exceeding 48VDC to avoid breakdown of isolation components
- Field side serial cable must use shielded twisted pair wire; shielding layer single-point grounded at field equipment cabinet only
- Conduct annual 2500VAC withstand voltage insulation testing for all communication channels
- Do not install the module adjacent to frequency converters or high-power contactors to reduce electromagnetic interference
- Store spare modules in low-humidity sealed packaging with desiccant bags
