Technical Specifications​

Sixteen digital input channels are provided. Standard wetting or supervision voltage is 48 V DC. Input current is approximately 5 to 7 mA per channel. Galvanic isolation between field and logic is 1500 V AC. Debounce or filtering time is software-configurable, typically 5 to 20 ms. Front-panel LEDs indicate individual channel status. Backplane supply is 24 V DC from the rack. Operating temperature is 0 °C to +55 °C. Storage and extended limits depend on carrier variant. Protection rating is IP20. Installation is in S4-series or compatible Metso/Valmet DNA rack with the appropriate terminal block such as CPO331.

Functional Features​

High-density 48 V DC contact sensing, optical/galvanic isolation, configurable debounce, per-channel diagnostics, self-diagnosis, and direct rack integration with DPU processing.

Applications​

Pulp and paper machinery interlocks, power-plant turbine and breaker status, motor starter feedback, valve limit detection, emergency-stop monitoring, and sequence-of-events reporting.

Construction And Materials​

Rack card with optoisolated input stage, 48 V wetting source, status LEDs, debounce logic and backplane connector; field wiring through CPO331 or equivalent terminal base.

Working Principle​

A field contact closed under 48 V wetting sends current through the input circuit. The optoisolator converts the contact state into logic level, debounce logic removes contact bounce, and the status word is transferred to the DPU over the backplane.

Installation Requirements​

Install in the assigned S4/DNA rack slot and connect the CPO331 terminal base. Configure wetting voltage, debounce and alarm thresholds in the engineering tool. Ground shields and terminal base according to system rules. Verify field device contact rating for 48 V DC supervision.

Precautions​

Use only 48 V DC wetting unless the ordered variant is explicitly rated otherwise. Avoid 24 V dry-contact devices not designed for 48 V supervision without approved interface relays. Check cable voltage drop on long runs. Do not exceed isolation ratings. Test debounce settings to prevent missing fast events such as SOE trips.
