Functional Features
- Galvanic isolation on RS485 interface
- DIP switch for slave address and bus parameters behind module door
- Onboard diagnostics for bus communication errors
- Transparent I/O data mapping to System 2005 CPU
Application Scenarios
Distributed machine control where I/O racks are located away from the main CPU cabinet (e.g., remote valve terminals, conveyor segments, press auxiliaries).
Structural Characteristics
System 2005 single-width module with front flap covering DIP switches and RS485 connector. Isolated DC/DC converter separates bus-side and line-side RS485.
Working Principle
The CPU writes/reads I/O images to the EX150 via the backplane bus. The EX150 serializes these images into RS485 frames, polls each remote slave in turn, and updates the I/O map on reply.
Installation Requirements
Insert into a System 2005 backplane slot. Set node address via DIP switches. Terminate both ends of the RS485 bus with the correct termination impedance. Use shielded twisted pair grounded at one point.
Usage Precautions
Never operate RS485 without proper bus termination. Observe maximum cable length versus baud rate. Verify isolation is intact before connecting to externally powered remote stations.
