Product Short Description
Product Name: 6410/6420 family microstepping stepper drive with programmable I/O
Product Introduction: A higher-function variant of the 6410 platform adding serial communication, NVRAM program storage and bidirectional discrete I/O while retaining step/dir microstepping output.
Technical Specifications:
- Output: 5 A rms max, 7.1 A peak, 24–75 VDC input
Description
- Microstepping: 200–51,200 steps/rev binary, 200–50,000 decimal, variable 20,000 steps/rev
- Serial: RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485
- Memory: 1792 bytes NVRAM for motion programs
- I/O: 8 bidirectional programmable discrete ports, opto-isolated step/dir
- Protection: Short-circuit, under/overvoltage, open-collector outputs 30 VDC 70 mA
- Operating temp: 0–50 °C, max chassis 60 °C, 10–90 % RH
- Options on 6420-001-N-N: No cover, no heatsink, no connector kit
Functional Features: Standalone motion sequencing without external PLC, master/slave gearing, trapezoidal profiling, idle current reduction, electronic damping, serial tuning.
Application Scenarios: Standalone indexers, rotary dial machines, multi-axis synchronized feeders, retrofit of relay-based stepping systems.
Working Principle: The drive stores motion sequences in NVRAM, executes them on trigger from discrete inputs or serial command, generates internal step stream to the microstepping chopper, and reports position/status back over RS-485 or to local I/O.
Installation Requirements: Panel mount with ventilation, 24–75 VDC supply, RS-485 termination if networked, configure node ID and I/O direction via setup software or DIP.
Usage Notes: 6420 shares 6410 power stage limits; do not exceed 5 A rms continuous without heatsink; NVRAM survives power loss but backup battery not present—reload program after replacement.
