Product Short Description
Product Identity: The F3 AIO 8/4 01 (part number 982200409) is a safety-related compact remote I/O device in the HIMatrix F3 series, housed in a metal enclosure. It operates as a remote I/O slave and cannot execute a standalone user program; it extends the I/O level of HIMax and HIMatrix central controllers via SafeEthernet.
Description
Technical Specifications
- Analog Inputs: 8 channels, safety-related, with transmitter supply for unipolar voltage measurement (current measurement possible with parallel shunt up to 500 Ω)
- Analog Outputs: 4 channels, non-safety-rated but can be safely shut down through the master controller’s safety-validated logic
- Safety Integrity: SIL 3 per IEC 61508 / IEC 61511, PL e per EN ISO 13849-1, Category 4 per EN 954-1, certified by TÜV
- Operating Voltage: 24 V DC (−15% / +20%)
- Communication: SafeEthernet protocol with integrated Ethernet switching ports; two RJ45 interfaces supporting redundant connection
- Enclosure: high-grade metal housing, standard IP20 (higher ratings available on variants)
- Operating Temperature: −20 °C to +60 °C (extended versions up to +70 °C)
- Dimensions: approximately 125 × 75 × 35 mm; weight approximately 1.28 kg
- Hazardous Area: certified for mounting in ATEX Ex-Zone 2
Functional Features
- Safety-related analog input channels with 10-year metrological stability; recalibration required every 10 years
- Comprehensive diagnostics: AI.Error Code and Mod.Error Code system parameters report channel and module faults, activating the front-panel FAULT LED
- Line monitoring capability: analog inputs can monitor open-circuit and short-circuit conditions of digital outputs from other HIMatrix controllers when transmitter supply is set to 26 V
- Compatible with both SILworX and ELOP II Factory engineering tools
Application Scenarios
- Distributed analog signal acquisition in chemical, oil & gas, and power plant SIS architectures
- Remote I/O stations for pressure, level, and temperature transmitters in Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems
- Burner Management Systems (BMS) for boiler and burner monitoring
- Offshore and marine platforms where space-constrained cabinets require compact, high-density I/O
Installation and Usage Notes
- Use only shielded cables with maximum length of 300 m for analog inputs; each input must connect to a twisted pair with shielding earthed at the remote I/O side to form a Faraday cage
- For voltage measurement, terminate unused channels with a 10 kΩ resistor to prevent unreliable floating values; this resistor is not required for current measurement with parallel shunt
- Mount on a standard 35 mm DIN rail inside a field enclosure; in Ex-Zone 2 environments ensure the outer cabinet meets at least IP54 guidance
- Configure System ID (SRS) and IP address through SILworX or ELOP II Factory to match the safety controller’s hardware configuration
