Product Short Description

Product Introduction
The 07-7331-2301 is a 16-channel digital output module designed to safely control various actuators (solenoid valves, contactors, signal transmitters) in explosive-gas and combustible-dust environments. The module communicates with the process control system via PROFIBUS-DP and provides comprehensive diagnostic feedback.

Function Features
  • 16 short-circuit-proof digital outputs with 0.5 A capacity each
  • Integrated diagnostic module reports channel status (short circuit, voltage failure) through both LEDs and PROFIBUS diagnostic data
  • Redundant power input (U−/U+) enables emergency shutdown of driven actuators
  • Intrinsic safety design for Zone 1/21 (gas) and Zone 2/22 (dust) hazardous areas
  • Compatible with major PLC and DCS systems
Application Scenarios
Oil, gas, chemical, and pharmaceutical plants requiring explosion-protected automation; control of motor starters, solenoid valves, indicator lamps, and other actuators; robot, conveyor, and packaging machine digital signal output; remote I/O expansion where explosion protection is mandatory.
Performance Parameters
Each channel independently drives up to 0.5 A at up to 30 V DC; total module load ≤ 4 A. Switching frequency up to 1 kHz. Full diagnostics available per channel.
Material & Structure
Aluminum housing with anti-corrosion coating; compact DIN-rail mountable body (45 mm wide).
Working Principle
The module receives digital output commands from the PROFIBUS-DP network, decodes the addressed channel instructions, and switches the corresponding transistor outputs. Each channel’s health (short/open/overload) is continuously monitored and reported back to the controller via diagnostic messages and front-panel LEDs.
Installation Requirements
  • Install on standard DIN rail inside a suitable cabinet or protective enclosure
  • For hazardous-area use, the enclosure must satisfy the required IP and Ex ratings
  • Connect 24 V DC (or bus power) to the primary power terminals
  • Optionally connect the U−/U+ redundant power terminals for emergency shut-off capability
  • Set the PROFIBUS address via the rotary coding switch or software
  • Wire field loads to the removable screw terminals (≤ 1.5 mm²)
Usage Notes
  • Ensure output voltage and current do not exceed 30 V DC / 0.5 A per channel
  • Inductive loads must be protected with flyback diodes to protect output transistors
  • Avoid using the non-protected version in high-temperature, high-humidity, or strong EMI environments
  • Regularly check LED indicators to detect and address faults promptly
