Product Short Description
Product Overview
The PLX31-EIP-SIE is an industrial protocol gateway that enables communication between Rockwell Automation EtherNet/IP control systems and Siemens S7 PLCs over S7 Industrial Ethernet.
It solves the integration problem of mixed-vendor control systems in factories deployed with both Rockwell and Siemens automation equipment.

Humidity 5%–95% non-condensing, meets IEC 61000-6-2 EMC immunity standard
Power LED, EtherNet/IP Link/Act LED, Siemens Ethernet Link/Act LED, Fault LED, SD Card Activity LED
Bidirectional one-to-many and many-to-one cross-network data mapping with adjustable transmission priority
Pre-installed EDS file, direct addition to Rockwell Studio 5000 without manual file import
MicroSD card saves full dual-network IP, S7 connection and data mapping configurations for fast hardware replacement recovery
PC discovery software scans all gateways on LAN, batch IP modification without matching PC subnet
Multi-layer network protection: hardware password lock, PLC IP access whitelist, CRC data frame verification
Simultaneous multi-PLC connection, single gateway links multiple Rockwell and Siemens controllers together
Power-on DSP processor loads cross-network communication parameters and completes dual Ethernet hardware self-check.
EtherNet/IP port receives Rockwell PLC frames, verifies frame integrity and extracts control data payload.
S7 Ethernet port receives ISO-on-TCP frames from Siemens PLCs, filters field interference and extracts memory data values.
Two independent protocol parsing cores convert data bidirectionally following user-defined mapping tables, repackaging frames for opposite-side transmission.
Continuous cyclic data exchange with automatic retransmission for unstable network signals. Any Ethernet link disconnection triggers orange port activity flash and red module fault flash; fault logs with timestamps stored to internal memory.
Horizontal DIN rail installation inside fully sealed electrical cabinet; upside-down or side tilt mounting forbidden to prevent internal overheating.
20mm vertical clearance reserved above and below for heat dissipation; heat-generating contactors, servo power drives placed minimum 10cm horizontal distance away.
Detachable spring terminals for power and Ethernet wiring, maintenance wiring without removing module.
Shielded twisted pair power cables, gateway protective ground firmly connected to cabinet main earth bus.
CAT5e fully shielded Ethernet cables for both network ports, RJ45 metal shielding grounded to cabinet to avoid inter-channel signal crosstalk.
100Mbps Ethernet maximum stable transmission distance 100m, repeaters required for longer wiring.
Internal metal shielding plates separate two Ethernet protocol circuits to eliminate electromagnetic crosstalk.
Automotive and consumer electronics mixed PLC assembly lines
Food and beverage filling, labeling and palletizing packaging systems
Large sewage distributed control water treatment plants
Thermal power plant boiler and turbine auxiliary coordinated control
Intelligent logistics sorting conveyor and stacking robot centralized scheduling
Complete dual Ethernet IP, S7 PLC connection and data mapping configuration via official PC software before powering online.
Never modify live communication mapping parameters during production operation to avoid temporary communication interruption and line downtime.
Match data type, byte length and memory offset strictly between Rockwell tags and Siemens DB blocks to prevent distorted numerical data transmission.
Module must be placed inside dust-proof sealed cabinet; exposure to metal dust, oil mist, corrosive gas or water splash will permanently damage circuit boards.
Minimize repeated power cycling; wait minimum 30 seconds after power off before re-powering to avoid corrupted configuration files.
Every six months clean terminal and ventilation dust with dry compressed air under 0.3MPa air pressure; alcohol and liquid cleaning agents are prohibited.
Update SD card backup file each time field communication parameters are adjusted, store spare backup SD card on-site for emergency module replacement.
When fault LED flashes red, troubleshoot in order: check 24VDC power stability and terminal loose contact → inspect Ethernet shielded cable breakage and grounding → connect configuration software to download fault logs for root cause analysis.
