Working Principle
The MC68030 processor executes embedded control software stored in EPROM. It accesses VMEbus backplane to communicate with other VME I/O, communication and analog modules. On-board serial, Ethernet and SCSI interfaces provide external data connection channels for peripheral equipment. Battery-backed SRAM retains configuration parameters and real-time clock data when main power is removed.
Material Composition & Structural Features
- Standard 6U Eurocard VME form factor printed circuit board
- Gold-plated VME backplane connector at rear edge
- Front panel equipped with I/O connectors, status LED and manual reset switches
- Multi-layer industrial PCB with through-hole and surface mount components
- On-board replaceable lithium battery for SRAM and RTC backup power
Application Scenarios
Legacy power plant DCS control racks, railway signal control systems, shipboard automation equipment, industrial test platforms, military embedded control systems, legacy VME equipment spare replacement.
Installation Requirements
- Install vertically inside standard 6U VME card cage chassis, ensure sufficient forced air cooling
- Properly terminate unused VMEbus signal lines following Motorola hardware manual
- Verify VMEbus system controller jumper configuration when multiple SBC exist in one chassis
Usage Notes
- The on-board lithium battery has limited service life; replace battery periodically to avoid loss of stored parameters
- Hot removal during system operation is prohibited; always execute controlled shutdown before extracting VME board
- Handle PCB with anti-static wrist strap to prevent electrostatic damage to integrated circuits
- This product is end-of-life original legacy hardware; firmware modification and component repair require specialized professional support
