Working Principle
An internal linear laser projects a thin uniform light line horizontally across the surface of conveyor-moving products. Reflected light enters the monochrome CMOS line scan sensor through precision optical lens assembly. Continuous line acquisition builds complete two-dimensional surface images of continuously transported goods. Onboard embedded processor executes real-time image filtering, contrast adjustment, barcode localization, data decoding and print quality inspection algorithms. Valid decoded data, detection results and fault signals are transmitted via GigE Vision, Profinet or Modbus to upper-level PLC and manufacturing execution systems. If unreadable barcodes, blurred printing or missing marks are identified, digital output trigger signals activate reject actuators on the production line. Automatic laser power calibration dynamically adapts to glossy plastic, matte paper, aluminum foil and uneven packaging surfaces to maintain stable imaging quality.Material & Structural Composition
- Main Housing: Extruded aluminum alloy with hard anodized anti-corrosion surface treatment
- Optical Window: Scratch-resistant borosilicate optical glass with anti-reflection coating
- Illumination Unit: Solid-state linear laser diode module with built-in overheat protection circuit
- Image Sensor: Hermetically packaged CMOS line scan chip mounted on vibration-damping substrate
- Internal Circuitry: Multi-layer FR4 industrial PCB coated with conformal protective lacquer
- Cable Entry: Nickel-plated brass cable gland with integrated EMC shielding sealing ring
- Fastening Base: Integrated threaded mounting holes compatible with standard industrial sensor brackets
- Internal Shock Absorption: Silicone vibration damping pads between optical assembly and outer housing
Installation Requirements
- Mount the sensor rigidly on conveyor metal frames using dedicated adjustment brackets; ensure no mechanical vibration resonance during line operation
- Maintain fixed working distance of 110 mm between optical window and target product surface; deviation greater than ±15 mm will degrade decoding performance
- Align projected laser line perpendicular to product moving direction to avoid barcode distortion
- Separate sensor signal cables from servo motor power cables with minimum 25 cm clearance to reduce electromagnetic interference
- Ensure no external strong light directly irradiates the optical window; install shading hood for production zones with intense sunlight or high-bay lighting
- Route communication cables with full shielding; connect shielding to protective earth at control cabinet side only
- Leave 15 mm clearance around housing for passive air circulation heat dissipation
Application Scenarios
- Pharmaceutical blister pack, carton batch code and serial number traceability inspection
- Food and beverage high-speed packaging conveyor barcode reading and print quality verification
- Cosmetic and consumer goods label defect detection, missing text and offset printing checking
- Logistics sorting line continuous package barcode identification on high-speed conveyors
- Tobacco industry carton code recognition and anti-counterfeit label inspection
- Medical device packaging serialization code reading for regulatory traceability compliance
Usage Precautions
- Never directly observe the emitted laser line with naked eyes; comply with laser safety operating standards
- Do not wipe optical window with rough cloth; use lint-free optical tissue and isopropyl alcohol for regular cleaning
- Avoid prolonged exposure of sensor housing to direct high-pressure hot water wash; IP67 rating applies to standard cold water splash only
- Prevent packaging debris and adhesive residues from accumulating on optical glass surface
- If continuous decode failure occurs, first check for laser power attenuation and mechanical mounting offset
- Do not operate the sensor outside the -10°C ~ +50°C ambient temperature range
- Cut off power supply before disassembly and adjustment of mounting position
