Product Short Description
Product Overview
This is a dedicated flame safety and ignition sequence controller manufactured by Honeywell Thermal Solutions, engineered for single-stage natural gas, propane, and methane industrial burners, commercial heating furnaces, boiler heating systems and process thermal treatment ovens. The unit integrates spark ignition drive, flame signal detection, gas valve interlock logic and full safety fault self-locking functions in one compact housing, fully compliant with ANSI Z87.20, EN 298 gas burner safety standards. It automatically executes standardized burner startup, flame monitoring and emergency shutdown sequences to eliminate manual ignition risks and prevent unburned gas accumulation explosions.
Description
Working Principle
Closed-loop sequential safety control circuit with rectification flame rectification detection core:
- After receiving external burner start enable signal, internal timing IC initiates pre-purge countdown cycle to exhaust residual unburned gas inside combustion chamber
- Upon completion of pre-purge timer, high-frequency spark ignition transformer outputs high-voltage arc to igniter electrode for continuous spark generation
- Simultaneously, main gas solenoid valve opens under controlled delay, fuel enters combustion chamber and contacts ignition spark for combustion
- Flame rod sensor generates DC rectified current signal once stable flame forms; built-in signal amplifier continuously samples flame current value
- If valid flame signal is detected within factory fixed flame proving time window, controller maintains gas valve open state and exits ignition cycle into steady burn monitoring mode
- If flame signal disappears or fails to form within proving window, safety interlock circuit immediately cuts gas valve power, triggers lockout shutdown and activates visual fault alarm LED; manual reset required to restart full burner sequence
- Internal thermal fuse and overcurrent protection circuit cut off main power supply in case of module overheating or short-circuit load faults

Application Scenarios
- Single-stage natural gas/propane industrial hot water boilers and steam boilers
- Metal heat treatment furnace, paint drying oven, textile drying gas burner systems
- Commercial central heating gas furnaces, food processing thermal sterilization burners
- Packaging industry hot air circulation gas heating equipment
- Small-scale chemical plant process heating low-power single-stage gas combustion units
Installation Requirements
- Mount controller horizontally on TS35 DIN rail or flat metal panel; vertical upside-down installation is strictly prohibited to avoid internal component heat accumulation
- Maintain minimum 15mm clearance gap on top and bottom sides of the module for natural convection heat dissipation
- Separate high-voltage ignition wiring, gas valve power wiring and low-voltage flame sensor wiring by minimum 20cm routing distance to avoid signal interference
- Flame rod sensor cable must use dedicated shielded high-temperature wire, single-point grounding at controller terminal only
- Tighten all terminal screws to torque 0.7–0.9 N·m to prevent loose contact overheating under long-term operation
- Install inside IP44 minimum protection control cabinet to block combustion furnace oil mist, dust and water vapor ingress
- Connect module chassis ground terminal to cabinet protective earth bus with 1.5mm² copper grounding wire
Usage & Maintenance Precautions
- Do not modify internal DIP switch timing parameters during burner running state; cut off main power supply before adjusting settings
- Regularly inspect flame rod electrode every 6 months to remove carbon layer buildup that weakens flame detection signal
- If frequent lockout faults occur, first check gas supply pressure stability, ignition electrode gap and combustion chamber air intake balance
- Strictly avoid mounting the module within 30cm of burner high-temperature metal casing to prevent ambient temperature exceeding 75°C limit
- Cut off all AC input power and wait 5 minutes for internal high-voltage capacitor discharge before opening housing for internal inspection
- Do not use this model for multi-stage gas burners or high-power dual-fuel combustion systems without auxiliary safety expansion modules
- Replace controller unit immediately if internal PCB shows oil corrosion, burnt traces or unstable LED status flickering
- Avoid wiring thin-gauge extension cables to flame sensing loop; excessive cable resistance will cause false flame loss shutdown faults
