Working Principle
24VDC cabinet power enters primary side soft-start circuit to limit startup surge current, high-frequency DC-DC switching topology converts voltage to isolated 5V and 12V dual output. Internal current sharing control chip synchronizes switching frequency of parallel SE5009 modules to evenly distribute total load current. Multiple protection circuits monitor output voltage, output current and internal power device temperature; once threshold exceeded, switching circuit immediately cuts off output to avoid chain damage to DeltaV controllers and I/O cards.
Material Composition
- Housing: Black high thermal conductivity aluminum alloy extrusion shell with ventilation fins
- Internal PCB: High-current thick copper FR4 power board with tin-lead anti-corrosion coating
- Power Semiconductors: Low-loss MOSFET switching tubes, high-frequency isolation transformers
- Heat Dissipation Medium: Integrated aluminum heat sink bonded to power chips via thermal conductive silicone pad
- Terminal Connectors: High-current copper alloy screw terminals for 24VDC input wiring
Structural Characteristics
- Standard DeltaV S-series carrier power slot form factor, snap lock mounting
- Front panel multi-status LED: input power OK, 5V output normal, 12V output normal, fault alarm
- Vertical side ventilation fin array for natural convection heat dissipation
- Internal integrated backplane power contact pins, directly supply power to carrier internal bus without external cables
- Single-piece aluminum shell shielding to block high-frequency switching EMI interference
Installation Requirements
- Install only in dedicated power slots of DeltaV controller/I/O carrier rack
- Maintain ≥50mm vertical top/bottom ventilation space for heat dissipation
- Parallel redundant configuration must use identical SE5009 model versions
- Input power wiring adopts 12–14AWG thick copper cable to reduce voltage drop
- Cabinet ambient temperature must not exceed 60°C for continuous full-load operation
- Avoid installing adjacent to frequency converters or high-current contactors to reduce electromagnetic interference
Application Scenarios
- All DeltaV DCS control cabinets for process industrial production lines
- Redundant power supply configuration for critical safety instrumented SIS systems
- Small-scale distributed control cabinets for water treatment, food processing
- Remote skid-mounted process control equipment power supply
Operation Precautions
- Do not open aluminum housing; internal high-voltage circuit exists even after power cut
- Strictly observe 24VDC input polarity; reverse connection triggers permanent internal fuse burnout
- Do not mix SE5009 with other S-series power models in parallel load-sharing setup
- Clean ventilation fins every 3 months in dusty factory environments to prevent heat accumulation
- If fault LED illuminates, cut off input power and wait 15 minutes before re-powering to test auto-recovery
- Do not exceed total combined output current rating when multiple I/O modules loaded on carrier rack
