Product Short Description
Product Introduction
MC-41110400 is a dedicated auxiliary relay expansion card compatible with all Honeywell MC series DCS racks. It receives low-power digital trigger signals from DCS backplane logic bus and amplifies signal load capacity via built-in industrial miniature relays, used to drive external alarm horns, indicator lights, auxiliary interlock contactors and remote status feedback devices without overloading main I/O module output channels.

Working Principle
- DCS main controller sends 24VDC digital trigger signal through rack backplane bus to module internal optocoupler input terminal
- Optocoupler realizes electrical isolation between low-voltage DCS logic circuit and high-interference field load circuit
- Isolated trigger signal drives miniature relay coil to generate magnetic field and close SPST contact terminals
- External field alarm or interlock equipment obtains power supply through closed relay contacts; RC absorption circuit eliminates inductive surge during contact switching
- Built-in coil current sampling circuit monitors relay operating state; coil open-circuit fault triggers LED alarm and fault code upload to DCS system
Advantage Highlights
- 16-channel integrated relay design replaces 16 separate discrete auxiliary relays, greatly optimizing internal cabinet space layout
- Built-in full-channel isolation eliminates risk of DCS backplane burnout caused by short-circuit of external alarm loads
- Integrated RC surge absorption circuit removes requirement for external parallel absorption components on inductive loads
- Ultra-low trigger current design avoids overload of limited drive capacity of DCS main digital output modules
- Real-time relay fault self-diagnosis function realizes automatic system alarm before relay complete failure
Applicable Industries
Chemical plant safety alarm systems, thermal power boiler interlock indication control, water treatment plant remote valve status feedback, packaging machinery production line fault alarm, metallurgy workshop equipment running indicator control
Installation Requirements
- Mount only into Honeywell MC series original DCS rack single slot; maintain ≥10mm vertical ventilation gap between adjacent rack modules
- Field load wiring uses 1.0mm² cross-section copper wire; terminal screw tightening torque controlled at 0.7 N·m
- Cabinet protective earth bar connects module grounding pin to suppress common-mode electromagnetic noise
- Install forced cooling fan inside cabinet if continuous simultaneous actuation quantity exceeds 10 relay channels
- Backplane power supply must provide stable 24VDC ±5% voltage fluctuation range
Usage Notes
- Relay contact load current cannot exceed rated 5A DC; external intermediate relay must be configured for heavy-duty loads
- Inductive loads such as alarm buzzers and AC contactors cannot remove built-in RC absorption components
- Avoid long-term continuous energization of single relay channel to prevent contact oxidation and adhesion failure
- Annual inspection of terminal wiring tightness to eliminate poor contact caused by wire oxidation
- Dry oil-free compressed air only for PCB dust cleaning; liquid solvent cleaning is strictly prohibited
