Structural Characteristics
- Compact cylindrical flush-mounted sanitary sensor head without protruding electrode cavities
- Integrated internal PT1000 temperature compensation element encapsulated within PEEK body
- Single-piece electro-polished stainless steel tri-clamp SP7 connection base
- Molded cable strain relief at sensor head to prevent wire fatigue breakage
- Fully sealed internal electronics cavity isolated from process fluid
Working Principle
Two excitation electrodes inject low-amplitude alternating current into process fluid; two separate potential measurement electrodes capture fluid voltage drop independent of electrode polarization effects. Built-in PT1000 temperature sensor transmits fluid temperature data to transmitter to automatically normalize conductivity readings to standard 25°C reference temperature for regulatory compliance recordkeeping.
Advantage Highlights
- EHEDG and 3A certified hygienic design eliminating bacterial contamination risk in sterile production lines
- Four-electrode technology maintains high accuracy across ultra-pure water to concentrated brine measuring ranges
- Withstands repeated high-temperature SIP steam sterilization without permanent measurement drift
- IP67 sealed sensor head tolerates production line washdown environments
- Native digital communication compatibility with ABB Liquiline process transmitters for Industry 4.0 data logging
Applicable Industries
Pharmaceutical sterile water systems, food & beverage beverage blending, biotech bioreactor media monitoring, semiconductor ultra-pure water production, cosmetic sterile formulation lines
Installation Requirements
- Mount via standard 1.5-inch SP7 sanitary tri-clamp with FDA compliant EPDM gasket between sensor and pipeline ferrule
- Install sensor pipeline branch with minimum 5 pipe diameters upstream and downstream straight pipe to avoid flow turbulence measurement error
- Route signal cable with minimum 30cm separation from high-current motor power cables
- Single-point shield grounding at transmitter terminal cabinet only (no dual-end cable grounding)
- Mount sensor with cable exit pointing downward to prevent process condensate ingress into cable gland
Usage Precautions
- Avoid mechanical impact to PEEK sensor body; surface scratches create bacterial adhesion dead zones
- Do not exceed 143°C peak SIP temperature or 10 bar continuous process pressure ratings
- Calibrate sensor annually with certified traceable conductivity standard solutions
- Replace EPDM sealing gaskets every 12 months to prevent fluid leakage and microbial ingress
- Flush sensor with deionized water post CIP/SIP cycles to remove residual chemical cleaning agents
