Working Principle
Linear reciprocating motion of large-travel equipment pulls the coated stainless steel measuring wire, driving internal spool synchronous rotation connected to optical incremental encoder. Orthogonal A/B phase pulse signals and Z-phase origin pulse are generated proportionally to linear travel distance, transmitted via differential line driver circuit to SIGMATEK DIAS motion control modules. The controller converts pulse count values into real-time linear position data to execute closed-loop positioning, stroke limit monitoring and automatic homing. The built-in constant tension spring automatically retracts measuring wire during equipment retraction to eliminate wire sag over full 620 mm stroke.
Advantage Highlights
- 620 mm long fixed measuring stroke eliminates need for multiple short-stroke sensors on large machinery
- Reinforced aluminum housing adapts to heavy vibration mining and metallurgical production environments
- Differential signal output supports up to 12 m wiring distance without signal attenuation
- Full mechanical and electrical compatibility with all SIGMATEK DIAS PLC and axis control hardware
- Factory pre-calibrated linearity, no on-site adjustment required after installation
- High fatigue-resistant wire and spring assembly extend service life under continuous reciprocating operation
Applicable Industries
Large hydraulic press equipment, mining thickener lifting cylinders, port container lifting machinery, long-stroke injection molding clamping mechanisms, metallurgical rolling mill linear actuators, large automated logistics lifting platforms, tunnel boring machine linear stroke monitoring
Installation Requirements
- Secure sensor housing rigidly via M8 bolts on fixed mechanical frame; eliminate housing vibration during equipment operation
- Maintain measuring wire straight alignment with maximum allowable deflection angle ±5° to avoid wire side abrasion
- Separate sensor signal cable from high-power motor/inverter power wiring with minimum 25 cm clearance
- Implement single-point PE grounding of cable shielding at control cabinet; forbid dual-end grounding
- Control continuous operating ambient temperature within -25 °C ~ +85 °C; isolate from high-temperature heat sources
- Reserve minimum 80 mm free space at full wire extension position to prevent mechanical collision with internal stopper
Operation & Maintenance Precautions
- Avoid direct high-pressure water jet, cutting fluid splash and metal dust accumulation on sensor housing
- Conduct quarterly inspection of measuring wire coating for abrasion, crack or fraying damage
- Strictly prohibit manual wire pulling beyond rated 620 mm stroke to prevent permanent spring failure
- Do not install adjacent to high-frequency welding equipment and large AC drive motors
- Store spare sensors in sealed anti-static packaging with silica gel desiccant packs
- Cut off DIAS controller power supply before disassembly of sensor signal wiring terminals
