Description
Technical Specifications:
- Rated Current (Ie): 40 A (AC-3 at 440 V)
- Coil Voltage: 24 VDC
- Poles: 3 NO (normally open) main contacts
- Auxiliary Contacts: 1 NO + 1 NC (standard configuration)
- Utilization Category: AC-3 (motor switching)
- Operating Voltage Range: 0.85–1.1 × Uc (20.4–26.4 VDC)
Functional Features:
- Snap-action contacts with silver-cadmium oxide alloy for arc resistance
- Mechanical interlock available on reversing configurations
- Coil suppression: Built-in varistor for DC coils (reduces back-EMF)
- LED indicator on some variants for coil status
Performance Parameters:
- AC-3 Rating (440 V): 40 A
- AC-1 Rating (440 V): 63 A
- Mechanical life: 10 million operations
- Electrical life: 2 million operations (AC-3 at 440 V)
- Coil power consumption: 1.5 W (DC)
Material Composition: Thermoplastic (PC/ABS) housing, silver-cadmium oxide contacts, copper coil, ferrite core
Structural Features: DIN rail (35 mm) or screw mounting; screw clamp terminals for main and auxiliary circuits; coil connector on top
Working Principle: When 24 VDC is applied to the coil, the electromagnetic field pulls the armature, closing the 3 main contacts and switching the 1 NO auxiliary contact. When coil power is removed, the spring returns the armature to the open position.
Advantages:
- Wide coil voltage range (24 VDC to 600 VAC)
- High electrical endurance for frequent switching
- Compact DIN-rail form factor
Applicable Industries: Machine tools, conveyors, pumps, compressors, packaging equipment
Installation Requirements:
- Mount on 35 mm DIN rail per IEC 60947-4-1
- Use terminals rated for 40 A (minimum 10 mm² copper wire)
- Install coil suppression diode for DC coils if not built-in (verify model)
Usage Notes:
- Derate current by 15% for AC-1 continuous duty at 60°C ambient
- Clean contact surfaces annually in high-cycling applications
- Ensure coil voltage matches control supply exactly
